Case Study 2:  Alzheimer's Disease (AD)

Case Study 2: Interpretation
Task Performance:
• Button Press Accuracy is often low, suggesting poor ability to pay attention to the
test stimuli
• Median Reaction Time is usually delayed, indicating abnormal stimulus processing
and executive function
ERP Features:
• P50 from the standard stimulus is usually normal, though patients in the early
stages of the disease can show abnormally high amplitude
• N200 amplitude is usually decreased and latency can be prolonged, suggesting
poor good information processing correlated with executive function
• P3b amplitude is also usually low and latency can be prolonged, reflecting
suboptimal working memory and classification speed respectively
• P3a amplitude from the distractor stimulus can be low, indicating poor focal
attention
EEG Features:
• PAF from the EEG test is usually low, reflecting poor overall cognitive performance
