Case Study 3:  Depression

Case Study 3: Interpretation
Task Performance:
• Button Press Accuracy is usually within the normal range
• Median Reaction Time is prolonged most of the times though N200 measures are
usually normal, suggesting that abnormal values in the behavior are not secondary
to poor information processing for executive function
ERP Features:
• Unless depression is comorbid with disorders like dementia, ERP features such as
N200, P3b and P3a are usually in the normal range
EEG Features:
• Patients with depression can show a wide range of PAF values.
• There is some scientific evidence that low PAF in depresses patients is predictive of
poor response to treatments such as antidepressants, ECT and TMS.
